Johannes Grenzfurthner liefert anhand verschiedener historischer und gegenwärtiger Beispiele (speziell auch aus dem Bereich der Hardware/Software-Industrie) einen theoretischen und praktischen – und keineswegs ununterhaltsamen – Überblick über das Genre der corporate anthem. Die Entwicklung vom Frühkapitalismus zum Spätkapitalismus ist nirgendwo so gut greifbar wie im dominanten Organisationstyp spätkapitalistischen
Wirtschaftstreibens: dem modernen Unternehmen. Innere Widersprüche und Interessenkonflikte treten zurück hinter das Fortbestehen als “Gemeinschaft”. Die Rückbesinnung auf die kulturhistorisch ältere Idee der Gemeinschaft führt auch zur Reaktualisierung bestimmter Ritualformen, etwa im Bereich “Musik”. Die Firmenhymne erscheint auf der Firmenbühne.

Johannes Grenzfurthner gives a theoretical and applied overview on the musical genre of corporate anthems by taking the issues, such as the advancement of pre-capitalism to post-capitalism (ie. the form of organisation for all social relations in a particular economical ideology), the most dominant type of organisation of the post-capitalist endeavour. Yet this is where contradictions within, and indeed clashes of interest take a step back behind the curtain of the “community”. The return to old ideas of community also brings with it certain forms of rituals, like the usage of a corporate anthem.
