Dear  Friends, Collegues, Comrades, Enemies, …

we have new perspectives, we have new projects. SLUM-TV is common future, but my personal past. The project
is now managed and run by the members themselves, and I wish them an even brighter future than the past. Of
course there will as well be space for collaboration in the future, but now I work on another development issue.

And that deals with Vienna. Another 5 year project? We, hope SO! Together with two artists friends, we took ower
a yugoslavian worker’s bar in the 16th district. Why, yugoslavian? Well, we have more than 200000 ppl living in
this town, and many of them came as yugoslavian workers here. Of course the dramatic events of the last decades
did generate a division based on ethnical categories, but one is theory another thing is the every day live of the
working class. Nothing is ideal here, but in every day live, in Vienna, these workers still mingle, regardless where
they come from. Is it the common language, the austrian discrimination or something else, which hold’s them
together?

Next to the bar, we opened a space, which we use in a way as a gallery, as rehearsal venue for public space
projects, as cultural center, which intends always to include the locals. To generate a social and political space,
where academic discourse can meet working class issues.

At least, that sounds like a plan. The bar is open. The first exhibition is as well opened. The Beauty of Work,
by Andrej Filev is processual and will be closed on 11th of July, with a huge party.

is the first exhi­bi­tion in our new founded Gallery. The space which will con­tain our Gallery/Cultural Cen­ter is in a quite bad con­di­tion and was used as stor­age space for a con­struc­tion com­pany. Next to the Gallery, there is our small Cafe. Both the Cafe and the stor­age space were estab­lished and run by work­ers migrants from for­mer Yugoslavia in the last decade.  The Cafe was and is a fre­quent meet­ing place for mainly work­ers, as it opens every day at 06:00 in the morn­ing, where they meet for their first cof­fee before going to work, and return in the eve for the last beer before going to sleep.

Many of that migrant work­ers, have been forced, due to the eco­nomic cri­sis and influ­enced by rigid res­i­dence or migra­tion reg­u­la­tions to rein­vent them­selves as one-man com­pa­nies. Often they have to col­lab­o­rate to receive an order, which later is exe­cuted as a result of long last­ing net­works and exchange of knowl­edge, a.e. where to get the cheap­est mate­ri­als for reconstruction.

Andrej Filev, who is an inter­na­tion­ally awarded pho­tog­ra­pher, as well sur­vived the dif­fi­cult years in Bel­grade, by work­ing on dif­fer­ent con­struc­tion sites. Lep­ota Rada is an process ori­en­tated exhi­bi­tion, which tends to include the migrant work­ing class guests into the recon­struc­tion of the venue, share and exchange knowl­edge and expe­ri­ences, doc­u­ment the process, and gen­er­ates a space where ques­tions of every day life are included within the fields of fine art and culture.

U POTRAZI ZA ALTERNATIVOM SVETSKOM PROJEKTU NEOLIBERALIZMA

Od početka 90-ih godina, ljudi u Srbiji, prvo zbog rata i embarga, a potom zbogneoliberalne i neokolonijalne politike privatizacije, doživljavaju neviđenu deindustrijalizaciju zemlje i uništavanje osnova egzistencije bezbroj radnika. Već 2007. godine, nakon čitavog talasa sukoba, borba zaposlenih farmaceutske fabrike „Jugoremedija“ u Zrenjaninu bila je jedna od retkih borbi koja se završila uspešno.Nakon zauzimanja fabrike i uvođenja samoupravljanja, predstavništvo zaposlenih je 2009. godine, tokom zaoštravanja privredne krize u čitavom svijetu, počelo da radi na stvaranju novog, nezavisnog radničkog pokreta. Jugoremedija je dio„Koordinacionog komiteta radničkog otpora u Srbiji“, kojem trenutno pripada i sedam drugih fabrika koje se djelimično nalaze u štrajku.

Tokom 2009. godine mnogi radnički kolektivi počeli su da se bore za svoja prava. Borba 1523 člana „Udruženja tekstilnih radnika Tekstilnog kombinata RAŠKA“ u Novom Pazaru sigurno je najpoznatija izvan granica zemlje. Nakon bezuspešnog štrajka (glađu) i akcije vlastitog osakaćivanja njihovog predsednika – odsekao je svoj mali prst – jedna od parola borbenih kolektiva glasi: „Pokrenuti Srbiju malim prstom“.
Šta radnike u bivšoj Jugoslaviji podstiče na tako drastične borbene mjere? Koje su njihove brige i nade na licu mjesta? Šta njima treba i kako i čime mi na Zapadu možemo solidarno da doprinesemo njihovoj
borbi – koja je takođe i naša? Ova i mnoga druga pitanja navela su nas da pozovemo Senadu Rebronju i Zorana Bulatovića, vodeće predstavnike „Udruženja tekstilnih radnika“ iz Novog Pazara, Branislava Markuša, predstavnika farmaceutske fabrike „Jugoremedija“ i aktiviste koordinacionog komiteta na ovaj niz manifestacija u njemačkom govornom području.

1985. – 1993. bio zaposlen u Tekstilnom kombinatu
RAŠKA. Tokom jedne od radničkih borbi 2009. godine
odrezao svoj mali prst.
Senada Rebronja: zamjenica „Udruženja tekstilnih
radnika Novog Pazara, Sjenice i Tutina“. 46 godine,
samohrana majka tri djeteta. Radila 25 godina u kom-
binatu RAŠKA.
Branislav Markuš: radnik u farmaceutskoj fabrici
„Jugoromedija“ u Zrenjaninu (Vojvodina). Aktivista u
„Koordinacionom komitetu radničkog otpora u
Srbiji“.

Zampa di Leone comic workshop in Vienna aims to stress contemporary art production and it’s role in the context of tyranny of neoliberal capitalism and dictatorship of biedermeier kleinbürgerliche neofascism. The project under title Former West will be analysed by Zampa di Leone and his friendly participants. Personality of Gerald Matt will be one of the comic topics and the role of the Austrian foundation as Erste Bank and Kultur Kontak Austria.
